History / Timeline
4Refuel Canada Ltd. began as part of the "Mini-Tankers" franchise system that originated in Australia in 1984. The primary focus at that time was on the onsite diesel refuelling for the earthmoving and construction sectors. The concept was franchised, expanded throughout Australia and into New Zealand in 1989.
In July 1995, the master License for "Mini-Tankers Canada Ltd." was awarded to Jack Lee, a Canadian citizen residing in Australia at the time. Jack moved back to Canada to expand the system nationally and in fall 1995, "Mini-Tankers Canada Ltd." started operations in the Vancouver and Lower Mainland area of B.C. In 1996, operations expanded to Alberta, to Ontario in 1997, to Quebec in 1999 and the Atlantic provinces in 2000.
In September 2003, Mini-Tankers International, the licensor of the Mini-Tankers system, became insolvent and subsequently defaulted on its contract with Mini-Tankers Canada. Accordingly, Mini-Tankers Canada terminated its Master License contract and re-branded the highly successful Canadian operation. The new brand "4Refuel" was chosen to reflect the organization's future and when combined with the tagline "The LEADER in Fuel Management" is more indicative of the offering that is now available. 4Refuel's focus on Fuel Management has applications globally and it is the intent of the organization to expand internationally in 2007. |
